The dominance of the Semillion separates this wine from the standard Sauvignons of Bordeaux. Les Charmes Godard has earned a reputation and a place amongst the great whites of Bordeaux. As the smallest Bordeaux appellation, vines have been grown in Côtes de Francs from ancient times. Some churches date back to the 11th century with the first settlements of the "Francs" in the 6th century. Blend: 70% Semillion, 26% Sauvignon Gris, 4% Muscadelle. Bonus Notes: The dry white wines of 2006 are indeed the stars of this vintage. Sauvignon and Semillon (the varietals that constitute Bordeaux blanc) were harvested in the cool temperatures of August which produced outstanding acidity and freshness.
